A clean and we'll stocked meat market. Has all the options from homemade boudin to crawfish pies. Service was good and priced reasonably. We drove from Orange and it was worth the trip! 5 Stars!
When I usually go to Louisiana I go to Scott, Louisiana. Scott has 3 maybe 4 Cajon meat markets that offer somethings you typically can't find in Texas. While on vacation in Louisiana recently I found Herbert's Cajon meat market. If you want just about anything Cajon to bring home and cook yourself check them out. I left Herbert’s one happy camper, let me tell you. First off great selection of meats. Can choose from fresh and frozen. I bought a fresh boneless stuffed chicken with broccoli out of enthusiasm alone. Also snagged boudin and andouille sausage to try.
What really sealed the deal, is their seasoned boudin balls.
I was on the verge of driving to Billy’s in Scott which was all I knew, but no longer necessary as these were I think as good as or better. Really tasty and a bit spicier flavor profile.
This place saved our butts after the butcher shop we originally wanted to do business with made it impossible to purchase enough Tasso Ham within our budget. They not only have better prices, they also agreed to give us a nice charitable discount after I explained that this was for The Warrior Refuge. Bravo Dillon!!! Bravo Herbert's Specialty Meats!!!
My first time at Hebert's. The kind lady behind the counter gave me samples of the best roux, cracklins, and boudin. The whole shop is very clean and organized with unusual specialty items and great cuts of meats and suasages. I highly recommend and will definitely go back. They were very hospitable, made me feel welcome and serve great food!
This is a great market to come get a variety of meats! Fresh selection and they have frozen options available as well. We loved the “different” types of boudin, specialty meats and steaks. Friendly customer service makes an experience so great. We highly recommend this market and will be visiting again.
Super friendly blue eyed , red haired gal helped us. First time trying boudin. It was delicious! The cracklings were to die for. Have it marked on my maps for future stops.
Really enjoyed Hebert’s. Got a boudin ball, one each of the crawfish, shrimp and meat pies plus regular and chicken cracklins. The boudin ball was superb as were the two cracklins. The pies were tasty though as a Natchitoches meat pie lover, the flaky pastry crust was a little different for me. All in all, a terrific place and would love to try some of the specialty meats
